"HOME SWEET HOME"

Friday the 13th august, 2010, during Copenhagen Fashion Week s/s 11 stylist/designer Simon Rasmussen performs his first solo show, presenting his unique men's and women's collection.

"I do this show for mig own sake really. I always had a dream to do it, and to do my very own thing without anyone else being involved or correcting me in what I do"

Simons first collection consists mainly of show-pieces, which he has designed and created out of recycled clothing, found, bought or even stolen. The theme and inspiration for the show and the collection is taken from the street heroes - the homeless, the prostitutes, the crazy people, the ones, nobody want's to be around.

Simon cooperates besides designing, with artist Javier Tapia. Javier has, for the show installed some wagons and three small houses, which are, like the clothes, inspired from real life in the streets. Virtually all materials are collected from the streets. Things that have been scrapped. It's an attempt to reuse materials, in order to get shelter. In another way, forced to recycle garbage.

Javier Tapia was born in Chile in 1976 and has lived in Denmark since 2001. Javier has just completed six years at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, and has done many solo and group exhibitions.
Javier and Simon cooperation, stems from the last couple of years, playing basketball at the same team. For a long time, Simon wanted to combine their creative abilities.
"I have given the old and worn clothes new life, like the homeless does it in everyday life. Many of the creations will be truly useless to someone, and it is perhaps not the most usable clothes, but hopefully, it will create admiration and even arouse enthusiasm among some individuals out there."
